My fluffy company

What I plan to do.

I am using basically same list of colors on both palettes. I will paint a picture using only the student palette, then same picture on another canvas with only higher grade palette. BTW the student palette is showing signs of drying already.

Answer

Right is student grade

Comparing the two.

Here are the two palettes, seem same. Can you guess which is which?
I got this Burnt Umber from my artist mentor. She got too frustrated with it because it was too stiff. I am wondering if it is student grade. It does not smear smoothly.

Student grade oils!

As a teacher, I have students walking in with oil sets. I watch them struggling with extra hurdles that come with student grade oils, isn't pretty! Now after buying a bulk of various oils from another artist,I have some student grade oils. So as a teacher, I am going to blog my experience with these Wintons. Remember, most of my tubes are Windsor and Newtons and Grumbachers. Winton is student grade of Windsor and Newtons, they seem to be much better than most oil sets brought in. Coming out of the tube, they don't seem too bad.
